Battle of the Water Calibration Networks information available (see link on sidebar)

An updated data file for the Battle of the Water Calibration Networks (BWCN) was posted at the WDSA 2010 web site:
http://wdsa2010.org/battlewatercalibration.html

The updated Excel file contains three changes:
1 - updated fire flow demands
2 - new static pressures for flow tests
3 - new clarification for the pipe materials.

If you want to directly receive future updates regarding the BWCN please send an email to Avi Ostfeld at ostfeld@tx.technion.ac.il

WDSA2010 Conference
September 12-15, 2010

The WDSA2010 proceedings will be distributed on a CD to conference registrants and archived in the ASCE Online Research Library (www.ascelibrary.org).

Several emerging areas associated with water distribution will be underscored:

·        WDS as a microbiological system,

·        Water security

·        Sustainable WDS design/operation using the triple bottom line/ Water reuse/dual distribution networks design.

Further, a unique holistic perspective of contaminant intrusions including detection, source identification, and response will be highlighted through a series of sessions. We intend to bring together engineers and modelers with sensor developers and utilities to provide better understandings of the issues, needs and capabilities that can be used to protect consumers.

In addition, discussion themes and sessions at WDSA 2010 will include and are listed in the table below:

·        Development, calibration and application of water distribution system models.

·        Water quality monitoring technology and practices in distribution systems.

·        Advances in network water demand estimation and water quality prediction

·        Asset management and system rehabilitation

·        Improved hydraulic and water quality modeling techniques

·        Other topics may include: leak detection, optimization of WDS design and operation, reliability and resiliency field studies.
